Tiruvannamalai
Holy abode of Lord Siva - Tiruvanamalai is situated 172 kilometers from Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. Surrounded by hills and reserve forest, Tiruvanamalai is famous for Arunachaleswarar Temple and Sri Ramana Ashram.
Five century old resident Mudaliar and/or Sengunthar Community has been running the traditional handloom weaving occupation. This if you can qualify for ‘heritage’ then Tiruvanamalai amply displays it through its cluster products.
Tiruvanamalai though lesser known among other Tamil Nadu districts produces bulk of India's silk apparels made by the people of Arni in the same district and the sarees also are known by that name.
